The Dutch Experience, with a tinge of Indonesian and Portuguese!

I decided to watch the football match (Holland vs Portugal) at 'The Bar' partly because they've got a big screen there and I get to soak myself up in that 'football frenzy atmosphere' (You get to hear people screaming and swearing in different languages and also the way they bitch the players everytime they slack off on the pitch. So hilarious!!) and partly because I wanted to catch up with my mates and I knew I was bound to meet some of them there. This time I was supporting Portugal, since they are the closest to Spain ;P (d'oh,how lame is that!?!?hahaha...anyhow,I reckon they play quality football and so no doubt they really deserve to win this tournament!)

Timah then decided to tag along me (menyibuk jek!urrghhhh) and she definitely spoilt my initial plan...Kidding!!?!;P.She later ditched me (how dare she!!) and went straight home after the first half of the game.(She said she couldn't stand the cigarettes.LOL!)After a little bit of socialising during the interval I then joined Kevin (a Malaysian doing Masters) and I soon got acquainted with his friends,Jerry from Holland (yikes!and didn't actually look like one) and Mariana from Bulgaria and much to my surprise most of the people around me were supporting Holland.Tough luck!Mariana was asking me which team I was supporting and since Jerry was sitting next to her I decided to lie and said I was just there for a good match and I don't care who wins or loses.(Why lie??People there don't give a shit anyway and you have all the rights to choose whichever team to support!)I guess maybe it was because earlier on during the day I was hurt by a scornful remark from someone who proved to be immaturely insensitive to realise that what had been uttered wasn't a joke for me and didn't have the decency to apologise even after a few cynical remarks from myself.(Why do I always encounter these kind of people??)So I was probably trying to make sure everything that drifts off my tongue won't hurt other people's feelings and that's why I lied.

Anyhow, back to the football match, can you just imagine being in a state where you had to fake your actions when deep down inside you, you were behaving differently.I had to cheer and sigh for both Portugal and Holland (to make it less obvious) when I was actually jumping with joy and sneering at the Dutch team whenever they were blowing their chances off.(I felt like a hypocrite!)hahahahaha.....Anyway,when the match ended (and hurrah, way to go Portugal!!)all the four of us decided to play pool. These Masters students are really cool people and they seriously know how to have fun!Jerry wasn't quite like the 'typical Dutch' that I was once told them to be.An European friend of mine used to tell me that Dutch people are (the female ones), I quote "tall, big, with big boobs ;P,blue-eyed,smart but arrogant and stuck-up,and think that Amsterdam is the only place that has got it all!"hahaha...ok whatever!Anyway,I soon found out that Jerry was half-Dutch half Indonesian and no wonder I wasn't really convinced that he was Dutch in the first place. He didn't know any Indonesian but he does know a few words like 'sapi kontol' which basically means 'cow's dick'!hahaha(Good, now I'm taking up a new language!Does 1 or 2 words count?LOL!!)Mariana was simply adorable and crazy!(I like!;)).Anyway, the moral of the story is to never stereotype people as it is unfair and people behave differently regardless of race.I can still remember a bloke once told me that "You Malaysians exclude yourselves from the others???"I wonder if he had met every single Malaysian on the face of this earth before passing such comment? That is just plain lame, the remark!

Well, that's it for now.I am yet to indulge into another 'Dutch Experience' myself later this month when I'll be flying KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, destination:KUALA LUMPUR!.(Can't believe I'm leaving UK very very soon!!Sob!Sob!)Well, buggering off now.Laters!Ciao!

Life's hectic!

Currently listening to "Take Your Hand" by Usher

(Sorry for the long entry!)

I know it's been a while since I wrote and although exams and all that are over,I have been unbelievably busy!Too extraordinarily busy to even update my blog!!(Or was it just because my life hasn't been hit with anything interesting lately that I just ain't got a clue on what to write?!hehe)Anyway,it has certainly been a hectic week indeed and it all started with the shipping of my 'valuables' back home to Malaysia. My friends and I(Kupak,Sal,Shakira,Adlina,Raihan,Josephine,Izza, and most ultimately Wanie, otai a.k.a. team leader who also happened to be the person with the most no. of stuff, 29 boxes!!can u just believe that??!!! ;P)basically hired a container.Apparently I didn't have as many stuff as the rest of the people but it literally took me bloody forever to sort the packing, sealing and all that out!I won't go into too much details on it but in short it was quite an experience,a combo experience of pain, stress, joy and satisfaction and we were all smiles when everything got settled as planned.Let's hope the smiles will continue on up until all our stuff eventually get unloaded at Wanie's house.

Next it was moving out time and I have officially left Lakeside Residences, the place where I called 'home' for nearly a year!It was simply amazing the place and not to mention, kinda posh too!;)I had my own bathroom,an internal telephone and the all-around scenery was just relaxing!(It could have been a lot better if the construction of Harron Banks did not take place at all!why then???)Now I've descended to Redfern, where the rooms are tiny and I felt quite unwelcome at the start.(my door was a bit dodgy and it still now is and for the first time ever,I got myself locked inside the toilet (nothing so strange there I know) but then I couldn't get myself out of there after that!Pathetic innit...It was bloody embarrasing I know so am not gonna babble about it but yup,I did manage to get out of there,ALIVE and with full dignity eventually!!LOL!Anyhow that dodgy bathroom door has already been fixed (if u're wondering) and hopefully there won't be such repeating incidents in the near future.I seriously hope so!!ahahaha....Well anyway,I'm pretty sorted out in my new place now and my new flatmates seem to be kinda nice.

Like last year,I have to get down and dirty again this year because I am doing this shitty work (garbage collecting, cleaning turning around the halls etc, extremely tiring and nothing fancy I know) but Thank God the pay is good (decent and normal by the UK standard but extravagant by the Malaysian standard. ;))This is what happens when you spend foolishly throughout the year and, come the end of the year, you find yourself skint to the bone!Gosh, and yet I tell everyone I have an Accounting and Finance degree! How scary is that!?!?!HECK!

Eventho life's hectic nowadays,I do manage to squeeze in some fun too.I had a game of rounders with Azzad,ShaHira a.k.a. ShaKira;P,Izza,Timah and Wanie. It was explosively fun and at the beginning my team was kicking Azzad's team's ass out big time but as they say 'shit happens' and we were later kicking ourselves in the end instead!(Blame it on Shakira!LOL!!).No worries,I have always believed in the word 'Revenge' and I can assure you guys it's gonna be a sweet one next time we play again!hehe..Phew,it has certainly been quite a week indeed!I got my degree already (Yeaayy!!!) and now am just waiting for my Congregation Ceremony which will take place on the 13th of July 2004.I can hardly wait!Ok I am absolutely shattered now and damn it's gonna be another hard day's work tomorrow!Sob!Sob!Till later folks!Bonne nuit tout le monde!A bientot!Au Revoir!

Growing pains.

I had breakfast this morning with this English friend of mine named Matt whom I haven't met since Operations Management exam (shoot!now i'm reminded again about my dreadful exams,..oh well!) and his soon to-be-wife Debbie at the 'hottest breakfast spot' in university, where else if it's not Rootes Restaurant having what else but the 99p 5 items breakfast.Did I mention he and Debbie are getting married soon?Yup,they're getting married very2 soon and the delightful thing is,I am invited to the wedding (yeaayy!!!) but the not-so-delightful thing is,the wedding will take place in August and I am obliged to be back in Malaysia by August by my sponsors, which means I will most definitely miss it.(what a shame!!).I've always wanted to see with my own eyes how an English wedding looks like, especially if it belongs to someone that I know.As for their honeymoon plans, they're not quite sure yet on where to go but flatteringly, they did actually show quite a bit of interest on Malaysia as I have been pestering Matt to come to Malaysia and enjoy the sun and the sun-kissed beaches and also not to mention the cheap ringgit! (oh my,now I'm really missing good ol' Malaysia!).I ought to claim some rewards from Tourism Malaysia for doing this!LOL!Well,as a matter of fact I do miss home quite a lot and maybe it's about time I go home and open up a new chapter in my life. However,I am still quite astonished as to how quickly time passes by and sometimes it just freaks me out simply by just thinking and contemplating about my future. Will I be successful? Will I be happy? Will I be satisfied? Will I be able to contribute to my country and society? Will I be rich? How far will I go?..I could go on and on and the list would just go endless.Soon I will start on my new job and not to mention being one of those people who will be in their offices from 9 till 5 and everything will just become a routine before you even realise it!**Dumbfounded**I don't know but sometimes I just wish that I would never have to grow up,never have to crack my head out just to get a good degree and secure a decent job and your family will always be there for you should you ever need them. There will be no cares and worries and life would just seem to be as carefree as can be!Well maybe that's just plain naive and me suddenly feeling reluctant to take on more responsibilities in life.Ok I admit that was a lil bit childish of me but as much as it hurts to grow up I know I am up for it as there will be more challenges and ever-widening opportunities to make myself a better man and citizen. After all life is what you make out of it and it can only be done possible if you embrace the future. So maybe embracing the future isn't really that hard and dreadful after all and I always have this notion in mind that no matter how good or bad things turn out to be,they are there for a reason and God is the best planner. So whatever that has been rolled up for you in the future would definitely be the very best for you!

Anyhow,it's good to hear that more and more of my friends, both here in the UK and back home are starting to settle down and I wish all of them a life full of joy, happiness and success.Well as for me,only time will tell and like my favourite quote,"just go with the flow" but of course I don't ever want to be left out in this big circle of life but for the time being, let me just enjoy my singlehood and my 'last fling' during these last few treasured moments of my university life.University of Warwick, maybe it's a little bit too early but, thank you for splashing beautiful colours onto my life!Wicked and I can sleep in peace now!Good nite!

yet another day...

hIGHLiGhts Of ToDaY!!

The weather was crap big time but we still managed to have a feel-good barbeque!
(it was freezin' cold and yet they say it's summer!) Grace à the Malaysian Students' Association (MSA) of University of Warwick.Lots of chillin' and not to mention sumptous food.(But too bad I was a bit late so I literally missed the lamb! What a shame I know!)

Just when I thought Paris would be my last 'holiday abroad' throughout my 3 years degree programme in the UK,(I went there during the easter hols with my family),I completely found myself filling up all the necessary details on the Ryanair website and shortly after that,my bookings were confirmed.
I have just booked two air-tickets to Stockholm for myself and my mum (Yeaayyy!!!!!) and I am pretty excited you bet!I got them for quite cheap, GBP72 for the both of us (quite a bargain innit??!) but the only thing now that is putting me off is the thought of taking the maddening 3-hr coach journey to London Stanstead Airport.(during my most previous experience, the coach was so hot and stuffy inside that I thought I was about to pass out at some point. No proper ventilation!!!!).

Below is the itinerary:

Thursday 15th July 2004
FR 682 STN - Stockholm Vasteras (VST)
0640 - 0955

Sunday 18th July 2004
FR 683 VST - STN
1020 - 1135

So looking forward to the trip but I heard it's quite expensive there!Guess will have to save up some money from now on (Plus there's a Hard Rock Cafe over there so need to save even more money to buy the 'must-buy' stuff i.e. city t-shirt and most ultimately, the shot glass to add up to my collection. ;P )

As for Euro 2004

SPAIN VS PORTUGAL : 0-1
GREECE VS RUSSIA : 1-2

Well folks,it's mourning time for me as the team that I support the most (España) has officially been kicked out from the tournament.Sob!Sob!Tho I do admit Portugal really deserved to win. They were kickin' ass big time.Raul was somewhat a dissapointment.Ok that's all for today.Am about to watch Jeepers Creepers 2 (any idea if it's good or not?)with Mat Pitt who is spending the weekend here in coventry.Adios y Hasta Luego todos!

The Final Fling

I know I should have posted this entry a little sooner but alas, I was held back by my unsuccessful attempt to consolidate the link to the pics with this 'final fling' entry.
But no worries,I'd probably do it again this weekend with a little help from Johan, the all-rounder whiz-kid!!(Lucky Farhani but unlucky for Johan...*sniff*sniff*..=P!!!)Well,it was a great night indeed although not stupendous. It was not like the typical classy prom kinda thing (like what I was hoping for)but more of a 'junkie' one(not in a bad way,of course as everyone still managed to have fun)where people can even just fag away their cigarettes and get wasted. You'd see loads and loads of bottles of alcohol lying around literally. It was just like one of those 'Top Banana' scenes except that everyone was all well dressed up for the occassion and with an added extra form of entertainment,...a fun fair!!(the only thing that appealed to me was the bumper car..urggh!!)Gosh,I can't believe the organiser still treated us all like kids although we've finished uni.By now,I bet you guys would probably have thought that I didn't enjoy myself but I actually did really. It was just excellent enough for me to be able to enjoy quality time with my friends, those people who I don't even know when I can see them again after this as we all come from different places, and we took lotsa pics. Also, some of the live bands were very entertaining, catchy and upbeat music, and we also raved our way all through the night.Although my expectation was not met and I felt slightly ripped off (37 quid for the ticket and another 38 quid for the tux rental),overall,it was very fullfilling! After all,it was 'Final Fling' anyway and it's your last chance to piss around and have fun just for the sake of it!It could also be my very first and last 'ball' so maybe I should just stop whining!LOL!Anyhow,Cheers to everyone who had made it a great night!

Enough about final fling and now back to reality!!I watched england played against switzerland yesterday with farhani a.k.a. kupak and timah but the ironic thing was I had to watch it whilst cooking but the girls were watching it whilst playing poker cards?!!DODGY INNIT?!?!!hahah...nah,it was just my turn to cook dinner coincidently and I never knew girls could be so rowdy and boisterous! They were frantically supporting england and they were all like especially kupak...'GO ENGLAND GO RooNey and everything else that goes along with it.Well,it suits her name tho, Farhani Sanat = FANAT!!hehehe...anyway,gladly my chicken rice turned out to be...chicken rice, hahaha unlike my previous attempt which was not very much 'chicken rice' ;P...So to everyone esp. Azzad who usually makes fun of my cooking skills,I can cook something else now besides tom yam!!BEAT THAT!!!!;)

Party Time!!!

Exams are done (they were such a pain in the ass!!!) and gladly, it's time to get all dressed up and PARTY!!!Tonight's Final Fling 2004 will be my first ever ball (yeah, yet another virgin!LOL!) and i'm so thrilled.it should be fun because there'll be live bands performing, beautiful ladies, chillin' out and mind you, the perfect time for me to strut my stuff!Yes i am wearing a tux tonight! So watch out ladies...you're in for a delight tonight!!ahahaha...yeah I've heard so many people making a great song and dance about dressing up but in the end, though, most love it!Why?Well,it's particularly because black tie is expressly designed to make the wearer look fabulous.Even the most unwilling and scruffy (like myself..and gosshh...my hair has grown long its jutting out and covering my ears) usually scrub up well.Well let's just hope it does for me tonight although I know all the other lads would probably look a lot nicer than I do because they're all taller and toned unlike me!sob!sob!=P.Anyhow, let's just give it a shot and have fun!

A few tips to ensure you have a ball: (got this from somewhere)

1)Make sure your suit is clean and fits well, and that your bow tie is tied correctly.
2)Make sure you polish your shoes.
3)Book a cab in advance or take some cash for the cab ride home.
4)Take a disposable camera instead of an expensive one which you may lose.
5)Pace yourself with the drink - you don't want to spend most of the ball passed out in the corner.
6)Be sure to compliment all the ladies on how fabulous they look.

and finally, don't forget to put on the charm. ;)

Alrighty folks,that's all for today.Till later.Adieu!!!
